Latest update: 2020-07-30
Quite honestly, we are having a bit f trouble making head or tail of the regulations at the moment. The Disaster Management Regulations (as updated by the Minister for Tourism) are distinctly short on details when it comes to adventure guiding:
Leisure travel between provinces is not permitted
Leisure travel within the province in which you reside is allowed.
Leisure travel overnight accommodation within the province in which you reside is allowed.
Hiking is allowed, in groups or 4 or less, 06h00 to 18h00.
Field Guides are permitted to conduct vehicle based game viewing tours provided that vehicles are adequately ventilated
But...the important one for us is that:
The last published regulations (Level 3, amended) only allowed hiking in groups of max 4, 06h00 to 18h00, and no organised groups.
So until we have clarity, it seems that The School For Mountain Leadership may do only the following:
Single day hiking, climbing and canyoning trips with a maximum of 3 clients, in the clients' own province-of-residence.
Single-day or Multi-day training courses for outdoor leaders.
Providing safety services for others who work outdoors (such as film crews, etc)
Professional services where we travel to the client's premises
If you have any doubts, give us a call and we will see how your requirements fit into the scope of what we are permitted to do.
In the mean time we will continue to keep an eye on how the Disaster Management Regulations impact how we are allowed to earn a living.
