MOUNTAIN WALKING LEADER

Just because someone has been hiking for 5 years doesn’t mean that they have mastered what it takes to lead groups. This course focuses your attention on the really important knowledge, skills and abilities associated with leading hiking groups in the mountains.

CANYON LEADER COURSE

If you want to experience a primitive, wild mountain then this is your trek! Starting at the Amphitheatre, passing the Mnweni Cutback and ending at Cathedral Peak, this trek covers some of the best aspects of the high Drakensberg in 6 days. If you have time constraints we can manage this trip in 5 days, or we can lengthen it to 9 or 10 days, covering more distance.

WALL CLIMBING SUPERVISOR COURSE

This course is aimed at people who take others sport climbing, either at indoor gymns or at their local crag. It does not provide all the training needed to become a rock climbing guide but does provide the technical skills required to supervise novices on single-pitch climbs.

Many adventure operators and school camp venues offer abseiling as one of their activities. Learn how to select a site, set up an abseil, manage a group throughout an abseil and prevent the occasional problem along the way (or solve the ones that you couldn't prevent).

From time to time we run short workshops on aspects of rock climbing, all aimed at making you into a better rock climber. Workshops may focus on:

  • Self rescue

  • Converting from sport to trad

  • Better anchor systems
