Activity   Abseiling & Climbing
Description  This is day 2 of a series of workshops. Together these workshops make up the Abseil Supervisor, Top-Rope Supervisor, Single Pitch Supervisor and Rock Climbing Leader Awards training courses. We`re running these as day-to-day workshops so that people who feel that they already know some of the material are able to sign up only for the training they want, effectively giving you better bang-for-your-buck.

So, what have we here?

Day 1
This is the day where we look at setting up and running an abseil site. Stuff we cover includes:

  • Site selection
  • Group management at abseil sites
  • Anchor systems
  • Rigging abseils (fixed and releasable)
  • Working near edges
  • Belaying abseilers

This is a full day workshop and will run from 08h00 to 17h00. You`ll need to bring your own snacks, sunblock, water and lunch, as well as a sun hat.

  • What paperwork will we get for this?
If you attend only individual days you will get a certificate of attendance for a one-day :
    ABSEIL SUPERVISION WORKSHOP
    TOP ROPE SUPERVISION WORKSHOP,
    SINGLE PITCH SUPERVISION WORKSHOP or
    ROCK CLIMBING SUPERVISION WORKSHOP.

Attend day 1-4 and you get a certificate of attendance for an ABSEIL SUPERVISOR`S COURSE.
Attend day 1, 2 and 5 and you get a certificate of attendance for a TOP ROPE SUPERVISOR`S COURSE.
Attend days 1 - 6 and you get an attendance certificate for a SINGLE PITCH SUPERVISOR`S COURSE
Attend days 1 - 8 and you get a ROCK CLIMBING LEADER`S attendance certificate.

Now these are leadership skills, so they assume a few things:
  • The Abseil Supervisor stuff assumes you can already abseil.
  • The Top Rope Supervisor stuff (or course) assumes you can already climb sport routes (and more importantly, can belay properly).
  • The Single Pitch Supervisor stuff workshops (or course) assumes you can already lead single pitch trad up to grade 13.
  • The Rock Climbing Leader stuff assumes you can already lead multi-pitch trad up to grade 15.

If you don`t have these skills then look at doing one of our other courses:
  • Safe Abseiling
  • Learn to climb
  • Leading Trad Routes

  • Type   Workshop
    Cost  R 1,000.00 Per person
