Description  This course covers the skills and knowledge which are core to any adventure guide and is ideal for preparing an individual for the adventure industry. Aspects covered include:

  • Categories of guiding activity
  • Identifying customer needs and expectations
  • Guiding ethics and customer care
  • Researching adventure sites
  • Designing guided adventure activities
  • Planning for a guided adventure activity
  • Preparing for a guided adventure activity
  • Recognising and dealing with customer dissatisfaction
  • Organising, managing and leading groups through adventure activities
  • Determining and minimising environmental impacts

  • Emergency preparedness and emergency management

    The course duration is 5 days and students on this course will be expected to put in a large amount of effort to complete the assignments which are expected of them. Access to a notebook computer helps greatly, as does computer literacy.
