Activity   Walking, hiking and trekking
Description  How well are you prepared for your trip into the mountains - not only physically but also psychologically and skills-wise? Many people venture into the mountains without understanding the nature of what they are embarking on. They struggle to navigate in reasonably good consitions and absolutely cannot navigate in poor visibility, are not equipped to deal with severe weather and do not know how to negotiate obstacles safely.
Would you find the hut in these conditions?
Target Group
This course is intended for mountain walkers who are already active in the mountains but wish to increase their safety margin by learning more about the safety aspects of mountain walking.

Duration
This course lasts 7 days.

Prerequisites
Reasonable experience in mountain walking - ideally 40 days or more. Students for this course should also have their own mountain walking equipment such as backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, etc.

Standardisations
This is a South African MDT accredited course. While it is not a SAQA accredited course it does address the requirements for SAQA 9288 in order to facilitate an RPL assessment. It does not include an MDT or a SAQA assessment, which must be done separately.

Availability And Numbers
This course is available part-time or full-time with a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 12.
