Activity   Walking, hiking and trekking
Description  A circular trip lasting 4 days. On this trip you will start from the Mnweni Cultural Centre in the Mnweni Valley and ascend either Mnweni, Rockeries or Ntonjelane Pass. You will traverse across a short section of the Drakensberg Escarpment and will then descend by another of these 3 passes. The area is probably one of the (if not the) most scenic in the entire Drakensberg, with views of the Eastern Buttress and Devil`s Tool to the north, and Cathedral Peak, The Bell, The Chessmen and The Mitre to the south, with glimpses of Intunja, Cathkin Peak and Champagne Castle further south.
Mnweni Pass
Daily distances are in the vicinity of 12-18 km with a mean altitude 3000m. At least one of the days will involve ascending a Drakensberg pass which will climb about 1500m over a distance of 3-5 km. Regardless of the season you stand a good chance of experiencing the awe of Drakensberg weather - icy cold in winter, incredible thunderstorms during summer.

This is another great warm-up hike for those who`re climbing Kilimanjaro, but also a very, very good hike in its own right - the views can be breathtaking.
